Digital Tendon extensor LF will limit from jumping but is cleared for flatwork.
This nine year old son of Yankee Gentleman was retired after 44 starts. While most of his races were claiming races, Salem raced in two stake races even winning one in February of 2016! While he is 6 starts shy of what is considered a “war horse,” he has a wise soul that can only be created through experience and I would consider him one of our War Horses here at the farm.
Salem is a very sweet and timid boy who tries his best to please. With his lack of confidence a quieter hand is recommended. He is not dangerous and I think a timid intermediate would be fine with him. He has been ridden a handful of times but has had the winter off. Under saddle he will hack out alone but is much more confident with a buddy. (To be expected) He has a soft mouth and is reactive to leg aids. While he still needs some miles, Salem is well on his way to being an excellent trail mount.
In the field, Salem is not bossy and prefers to stay away from any confrontation. He is okay with and without pasture mates. He would be a great babysitter for a young foal as well since very few things get him running.
